Emaciator
Reflection
Accide 2LP
Available through the Helen Scarsdale Agency: $17.00
We almost missed the boat on this one, and perhaps there are those of you out there who might sharea similiar conundrum. There is frankly too much music about, and not enough time to listen to it all. But we did manage to discover what a handful of others had already come to dote upon: the Emaciator 2LP Reflection. This is a project which parallels the more cantankerous, clustered noise proposals of Pedestrian Deposit, but Emaciator (at least from what we can tell from this 2LP), blunts the sharpened edges into these thickly rendered billowing hisses with hints of melody ripening beneath. The album intensifies from side one through four, even as the album reprises those melodic attributes found on the first side upon the fourth side. There is a malevolent subtext to many of these sounds, but this never achieves the full theatrics of Prurient or Whitehouse. No, Emaciator weilds his noise with much greater subtly: more on par with the post-post-rock deconstructionists Beyond. A very fine record, indeed.
Oh, yes. Vinyl only and limited to 300 copies.
