The Fossil Aerosol Mining Project claims to have been in existence since 1983, at which time the anonymous collective began liberating the sounds from 33mm film and reel-to-reel audio tapes found in burnt out warehouses. With this material they spliced and looped an aesthetic of "faked resurrection" that sounds auspiciously close to the work of :zoviet*france:, right down to the pilfered voice of Ronald Reagan haunting the hypnotized amalgam of punk-dub-concete-droning. Like so many people trying to reverse engineer Chris Carter's Gristleizer, FAMP have meticulously worked out all of the time-delay techniques and reverse-tape-loop clusterings that stood as the signature for :z*f:. Fossil Aerosol Mining Project's recapitulation of :zoviet*france: circa 1988 is nearly perfect; and given a forthcoming collaboration with the Newcastle iconoclasts, it's ordained with a crown of hessian cloth, tar-stained twine and radioactive feathers.
