Maeror Tri
Myein
Waystax CD
Available through the Helen Scarsdale Agency: $14.00
Myein first appeared on ND records back in 1995, housed in an oversized triangular packaging, which almost inevitably had its corners bent through normal usage. The Russian repackaging of the album comes in a far more sensible design -- a matte black envelope with the Maeror Tri logo diet-cut into the paper. The epochal industrial drones from Maeror Tri are just as impressive as when they first emerged well over a decade ago. Blackened swarms of flanging softened noise amass around a post-Branca minimalist chordal strum upon a single note for the opening number to Myein, eventually exploding as a crescendo. The second is vintage Maeror Tri with this somber melody repeating throughout the shadowy ambience; and the last 30 minutes of the album is taken up in a vast, amorphous color field of grey and black. Excellent work! |
