When Troum first published Objectlessness on Mystery Sea in 2005, it was rumored to have been out of print even before any announcements were made by the lable. This has been one of the problems that Mystery Sea by inviting some of the established artists in the realm of experimental music; in any case, many of those earlier Mystery Sea discs have re-emerged, including this one from Troum on the Russian imprint Faria. Objectlessness is a mighty fine entry in Troum's storied discography. Two long tracks of deep narcoleptic whirs, marked by Troum's signature infernal rumble, out of which radiant drones soar towards the heavens. They's always balanced the sublime and the nightmarish, the beautiful and the malevolent; and such dualistic metaphors play themselves out within the shadowy cascades of their dronemusic. The Russian version of Objectlessness features new artwork in a slightly oversized cardboard sleeve with 4 postcards.
