Yui Onodera
Entropy
No Fun CD
Available through the Helen Scarsdale Agency: $17.00
"This repackaging of Yui Onodera’s self-released CD-R enjoys a handsomely Wozencroftian photograph of a fog-bound landscape, and the sounds within certainly aspire to the dreamtime electronica espoused by Lawrence English, Biosphere, BJ Nilsen, and plenty of others on Touch. The title is a bit misleading, as many of the sounds are suspended against any motion and caught in an ambient stasis. Only a handful of field recordings present a few traces of rust, although these speckles are readily consumed within the next vaporous drone. Shoegazing melodies from Onodera’s guitar push to the foreground throughout Entropy with compelling results. The best of which is the untitled 6th track that should have been stretched out four or five longer than its 3 and half minute program, giving that mournful two note melody room to breath and grow." -- The Wire
