Current and future news:
January 13 - Feburary 17 :
Jim Haynes : Disaster and its Opposite
Electric Works • 130 8th Street • San Francisco, California • www.sfelectricworks.com
In returning to Electric Works, I'll be exhibiting a cross-section of new work including my ongoing investigations with corroded photography, whose imagery features crumbled architecture, demolition zones, the charred remains from arson sites, and the aftermath from the Merapi volcano explosion from 2010 (of which these images were taken by Matt Shoemaker and used with permission). I'm counterpointing the corroded work with that of a color-field abstractions whose vibrant blues, reds, and greens of these color field images were augmented through optical printing errors and the unpredictability of a plastic lens camera. All of the visual elements are in turn augmented by a subtle sound design from modified shortwave radio reception and crackled noise through aestheticized but decidedly lo-fidelity speaker constructions.
The Decline Effect 2LP
The Helen Scarsdale Agency has just published my long-delayed album, The Decline Effect. Some of this material was slotted for release on Root Strata, but that album was pulled from their production schedule for a number of reasons. None of which are particularly interesting, and none of which hamper my enthusiasm for that label. Click the album art for more information about the album and ordering info.

Tri-Ton CD
I contributed a lengthy piece to the three-way split entitled Tri-Ton and published by the Russian label Observatoire. Also participating on the album are Five Elements Music and Andrea Marutti.

The distant future:
Contour Editions will be publishing a new album of mine titled Kamchatka, sometime in the coming months.
I've also accepted a residency at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program to be held in Octover & November of 2012.
